Abstract: During excavations of an earth trench in Darwin, 2 plumbers suffered severe skin reactions on their legs. Investigations of plant roots from the inside of the wall of the trench indicated that sap from the Northern Territory (NT) native tree Diospyros maritima in the family Ebenaceae was the cause of the skin reactions.
