Abstract: Household surveys of alcohol consumption were conducted in 1983, 1993 and 1994 to monitor individual drinking patterns and to understand more fully alcohol consumption in the Northern Territory. Now in 1997, McGregor Marketing in association with the Australian Bureau of Statistics have been commissioned to conduct a comparable study aimed at describing patterns of alcohol consumption and related attitudes and behaviours in the Northern Territory. A face-to-face survey methodology was employed, whereby a sample of residents aged 18 years and over in Darwin, Katherine, Nhulunbuy, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs were interviewed.
